From a concealed hideout, we marvel at scarlet Macaws swooping in, adding a vibrant spectacle to the rainforest canvas. Following this, we embark on further exploration of the lodge's surrounding trails, returning for a hearty lunch. In the afternoon, we ascend to the Canopy Tower, standing tall at 34 meters. From its platform, we observe the bustling twilight activity in the canopy, anticipating the night's mysteries. Our journey continues along the "collpa trail" leading to the renowned Tapir Clay lick. Here, amidst the Amazon's grandeur, we encounter the majestic Tapirs, drawn to the lick for its clay's detoxifying properties.

The Tapir Experience offers a unique opportunity for intimate observation, where patience is rewarded with glimpses of this shy giant. Various bird species grace the scene, from dainty Wattled Jacanas to majestic Ospreys scanning for fish. • We set out early on a downstream boat trip to Colorado Village. Depending on our schedule, breakfast is served either at the lodge or on the boat, allowing us to witness morning wildlife activity along the river. En route, we glimpse lowland settlements and gold miners along the Madre de Dios River.

After a stop in Colorado, we embark on an overland journey to Puerto Carlos, followed by a boat trip to Santa Rosa.
